MAIN CHARACTERISTICS

Now, when buying a spectrum analyzer, there is no need to make compromises. With the R&S FSL, you get top-class features without breaking the bank. The R&S FSL is an extremely lightweight and compact spectrum analyzer that is ideal for all kinds of applications in development, service and production. Despite its small size, it has a wide range of features more typical of high-end analyzers, resulting in excellent value for money. The R&S FSL is the only instrument in its class with a tracking generator up to 6 GHz and capable of demodulating 20 MHz I/Q signals.

Belonging to the upper class is also manifested in the set of work functions. As in the case R&S FSP and R&S FSU, the basic functions are called up by hard-coded function keys, and the additional functions are called up by means of programmable keys and tables. This reduces the training time for new users.

Its compact size and light weight, plus an optional battery pack, make the R&S FSL an ideal portable instrument. In addition, the R&S FSL has a unique, easy upgrade capability. All add-ons can be installed without opening the device.

Assuming -103 dBc (1 Hz) phase noise rating at 10 kHz offset from carrier, +15 dBm 3rd order intercept point, 10 Hz to 10 MHz bandwidth, and DANL –162 dBm, the R&S FSL compares favorably with high-end analyzers. It will find application in industrial production, in service, in the laboratory and in the field. An RF attenuator in 5dB steps and an optional preamp provide optimum dynamic range.

Scalar Analysis of Electrical Circuits

Equipped with a tracking generator, the R&S FSL models .13 and .16 make it quick and easy to measure frequency response, filters and attenuators. ndB roll-off markers determine the 3dB bandwidth of band pass filters at the touch of a button. With an external SWR bridge, the R&S FSL can measure return loss and match. Measurement accuracy is enhanced by the use of pass-through, short-circuit and open-circuit calibration methods.

Modulation Depth Measurement (AM%)

The R&S FSL can measure the modulation depth of AM signals with a single keystroke. The AM% function sets three markers - to the carrier, to the upper sideband, and to the lower sideband - and determines the modulation depth by suppressing the sidebands. The modulation depth of a two-tone signal can be measured selectively by predetermining the modulation frequency, for example, starting at a 90 Hz sideband and then moving to a 150 Hz sideband of an ILS (Instrument Landing System) signal. High linearity

Gated Sweep

The gated sweep function of the R&S FSL is used to measure burst signals. This function can show the modulation spectrum of a GSM or WLAN burst signal (as shown in the example).
