Brief description of the series

Powerful bidirectional DC power supplies of the ITECH IT-M3900C series can not only supply current to the load, but also absorb it and regenerate it into the general power grid. This bidirectional mode of operation is useful in testing battery charge-discharge cycles and other similar applications. Models in this series provide power up to 6 kW in a compact 1U-height case and up to 12 kW in a 2U-height case. It is possible to connect up to sixteen identical models in parallel, which allows you to increase the power to 96 kW.

The ITECH IT-M3900C series includes 31 models of bidirectional power supplies with voltages up to 1 500 V and currents up to 1 020 A. Battery testing

With its adjustable output impedance and current sink capability, the ITECH IT-M3900C series is ideal for testing battery-based systems. In the standard configuration of power supplies, it is possible to perform battery charge-discharge cycles and other basic tasks.

For advanced battery testing, BSS2000 is available. Using this program, you can fine-tune test parameters, fully automate their execution, and provide detailed documentation of the results. Below is a screenshot of the BSS2000 program.

Solar panel testing

The ITECH IT-M3900C series has many capabilities for testing systems containing solar panels. This is especially true for three models with a voltage of 85 V (SAS modification) and two models with a voltage of 150 V (PV modification). These five models contain a built-in MPPT function to test the static and dynamic performance of PV inverters.

In the standard configuration of the ITECH IT-M3900C series power supplies, it is possible to perform basic testing tasks for systems containing solar panels. For advanced testing, automation and documentation, SAS1000 software is available in three versions, including SAS1000L and SAS1000M. The figure below shows four screenshots of this program.

Increased power output

The ITECH IT-M3900C series supports parallel connection of up to 16 models with a power of up to 6 kW and up to 8 models with a power of 12 kW. This operating mode allows you to obtain a total power of up to 96 kW. In this case, the output terminals are combined into one bus, and the models themselves are connected to each other by fiber optic cables through which control and synchronization commands are transmitted. These high power racks can be assembled and configured directly by the manufacturer and supplied as a finished product.

Differences between the IT-M3900 series

ITECH produces three similar series: IT-M3900D, IT-M3900C and IT-M3900B. Structurally they are the same, but differ in capabilities. The IT-M3900D series is the simplest and is a compact laboratory power supply with many advanced features.

The IT-M3900C series is more functional, it has all the capabilities of the IT-M3900D series, plus it has a bidirectional operating mode. The ability to absorb current and regenerate it into the power grid is used in a number of applications, for example, for detailed testing of batteries. The IT-M3900C series is optimal in terms of price-features ratio, since it costs a little more than the IT-M3900D series, and its functionality is much wider.

The IT-M3900B series is the most functional, it has all the capabilities of the IT-M3900C series, plus it contains a built-in electronic load with recuperation into the power grid. This makes the IT-M3900B series as versatile as possible, but its cost is significantly higher than that of the IT-M3900D and IT-M3900C series.
