The excellent measurement capabilities of the 70000 series oscilloscopes allow them to be used at all stages of project implementation: from prototype verification to finished product testing. With very low intrinsic noise and a sampling rate of 50 GS/s on all four channels, you can verify the integrity of the most complex signals and analyze their parameters without taking into account distortions caused by noise and jitter of the oscilloscope itself. And for applications requiring even lower intrinsic noise and jitter, you can use a sampling rate of 100 GS/s on two channels.
With excellent signal-to-noise ratio and low intrinsic noise, the DPO70000 and MSO70000 series oscilloscopes enable you to make very precise measurements. When debugging complex designs, the oscilloscope's low noise and high-quality measurement path help you find the smallest anomalies that could affect the entire system. And when analyzing RF signals, these characteristics significantly increase the useful dynamic range, expanding the scope of application of the DPO70000 and MSO70000.

Video review of Tektronix 70000 oscilloscopes
This video overview shows the main features of the DPO70000 and MSO70000 professional oscilloscopes. You will see the operation of these oscilloscopes in various modes, see examples of the analysis of common digital data bus standards, see the operation of four analog and sixteen digital channels when analyzing real signals. If you want to better understand the capabilities of the 70000 series, be sure to watch this video.
Radio frequency signal analysis
The Tektronix DPO70000 and MSO70000 oscilloscopes have very high bandwidth, so they successfully used for direct recording and analysis of RF signals. To do this, the RF signal is digitized by an oscilloscope, and specialized SignalVu software analyzes it simultaneously in the frequency, time, phase, and modulation domains.
SignalVu measurements are fully time-correlated with the oscilloscope's capture and trigger system. Time-domain events, such as commands to the RF path, can be used as triggers while the RF signal itself is displayed as a spectrum or waterfall waveform.
This screenshot shows an example of how the SignalVu signal analysis program works. It can test broadband systems such as radar, high data rate satellite links, and frequency hopping radio signals, as well as search and locate various signals in the spectrum. SignalVu software combines the functionality of a spectrum analyzer, a vector signal analyzer, and the powerful triggering capabilities of the MSO/DPO70000 oscilloscopes.
Fast signal detection
Manually finding the desired section of a complex serial signal can take hours of collecting and carefully analyzing many acquisitions. With the 70000 series oscilloscopes' Visual Trigger, you can specify the condition or waveform you want to detect and let the oscilloscope do the work. This greatly speeds up the process of debugging your system.
Below is the code sequence 1101 0101 that was automatically captured by the oscilloscope using a custom visual trigger pattern.
Testing by masks
Before launching new equipment with high-speed serial buses, a group of certification tests must be completed. This process is time-consuming and lengthy, requires special equipment and high qualifications.
To speed up and simplify certification testing, the DPO70000, DSA70000 and MSO70000 professional oscilloscopes provide a comprehensive set of masks for verifying equipment compliance with serial data standards. More than 150 masks are supported for the following standards: PCI Express, USB, Serial ATA, Ethernet IEEE 802.3, ITU-T/ANSI T1.102, ANSI X3.263, Sonet/SDH, Fiber Channel, InfiniBand, Serial Attached SCSI, IEEE 1394b, RapidIO, OIF Standards, Open Base Station Architecture Initiative (OBSAI), Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI), etc.
Serial data buses
With the appropriate options installed, Tektronix DPO/DSA/MSO70000 oscilloscopes can analyze high-speed serial bus protocols: PCI Express gen 1/2/3, MIPI D-PHY (CSI, DSI), and 8b/10b. As a result bit sequences can be converted into familiar commands and data packets for quick and easy analysis.
This screenshot shows both the bus electrical waveform and its decoded data at the protocol level, presented in a visual table. Time correlation of the data in the table with the waveform allows you to identify the causes of protocol errors that occur during the transmission of electrical signals.
Certification of digital protocols
Tektronix DPO/DSA/MSO70000 oscilloscopes can be equipped with software options for in-depth analysis and certification for compliance with standards most modern digital data transfer protocols: USB, Ethernet, PCI Express, Serial ATA, DDR Memory, SAS, HDMI, DisplayPort, MIPI D-PHY and M-PHY and others.
This screenshot shows the work DDRA options designed for DDR memory bus analysis. This option allows you to automatically detect write and read packets on DDR1, LPDDR, LPDDR2, LPDDR3, DDR2, DDR3, DDR4, and GDDR3 buses, as well as verify that these buses comply with JEDEC requirements using pass / fail tests on all edges of the read–write packets. In addition to compliance testing, you can quickly solve complex signaling problems on DDR memory buses. Also, the DDRA option allows you to measure the parameters of synchronization, addressing and control signals.
This screenshot shows the work ET3 options designed for Ethernet Compliance Tests. This option allows you to automatically perform analog waveform testing, characterization, and standards compliance. Supported physical layer protocols for Ethernet are 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, and 1000BASE-T.
Low noise probes
The performance of an oscilloscope is very important, but without quality probes it is impossible to properly connect to the signal source and get accurate results. So whether you're probing 8 Gb/s serial data streams, high-speed digital signals, or switching power supplies, it's important to use the right probe.
Tektronix offers a wide range of quality probes, including single-ended, differential, current, high voltage, digital, optical, and a wide range of accessories to connect to your target.
