SHORT DESCRIPTION

LCR Series Meters ST2829 German company Sourcetronic have the highest accuracy and the most extensive capabilities compared to other models of LCR meters from this company. The Sourcetronic ST2829 series consists of three identical instruments that differ only in the upper frequency range: the ST2829A operates up to 300 kHz, the ST2829B operates up to 500 kHz, and the ST2829C operates up to 1 MHz. The basic measurement accuracy for all three models is the same and is 0.05%.

For the ST2829 series, all the accessories needed to calibrate the device and make accurate measurements of the parameters of components in various packages - from classic two-pig to miniature SMD components - are produced. It is also worth noting the functional software for a computer, with which you can automate the process of measuring, processing and storing results. You can download a full description of all the characteristics of LCR meters Sourcetronic ST2829 below on this page in the section Documentation.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Many laboratory multimeters, which can measure electrical resistance and electrical capacitance, but cannot measure inductance. Accurate measurement of inductance requires special instruments called LCR meters (or RLC meters).

The Sourcetronic ST2829 LCR series of meters are laboratory precision instruments specifically designed for measuring AC complex resistance. ST2829 series meters can measure 13 main and auxiliary parameters: L, C, R, Z, Y, X, B, G, D, Q, Theta, DCR, Delta % (Vdc-Idc). In this case, the basic measurement accuracy is at the level of 0.05%.

For example, this screenshot shows the screen of the ST2829 series instrument with the results of measurements of inductance and quality factor. In addition to the measurement result itself, the screen provides information about the testing conditions: the test voltage level, the frequency at which the measurement was performed, etc.

Variety of measurement capabilities of Sourcetronic ST2829 instruments

The Sourcetronic ST2829 Series LCR meters provide many measurement automation options. One such possibility is a series of automatic measurements against a predetermined list of frequencies. An example of working in this mode is shown in this screenshot. In this example, the active and reactive components of the resistance were measured at different frequencies.

Also worth noting is the automatic calibration of the ST2829 series meters, during which correction factors are calculated for the measuring circuit used, which eliminates errors caused by the measuring circuits of the device itself, as well as connecting wires.

But maximum automation and convenience of work is achieved when using instruments of the Sourcetronic ST2829 series with additional computer software. STMeter 4.0, the main features of which are shown below on this page.

Computer software STMeter 4.0

Under the control of the optional STMeter 4.0 PC software, the Sourcetronic ST2829 LCR meters are fully deployed. The STMeter 4.0 software can be installed on any computer with Windows 7, 8 or 10 and provides easy access to all functions and settings of the Sourcetronic ST2829. With this program, you can fully automate the process of measuring, processing and storing results.

To demonstrate the capabilities of the STMeter 4.0 program, below are a few of its screenshots with a brief description. For full details, see below on this page in the section Documentation.

Sourcetronic ST2829 LCR Back Panel

On the rear panel of the LCR meters of the Sourcetronic ST2829 series there are interfaces for connecting to a personal computer: Ethernet (LAN), USB and RS-232 (notes 2, 4 and 7 in the figure). These interfaces are included as standard with the instruments. As an additional option, the ST2829 meters can be equipped with an IEEE-488.2 (GPIB) interface (note 6 in the figure).
