Optical testers (optical multimeters)
Optical testers (OLTS – Optical Loss Test Set) allow you to measure one of the main parameters of fiber optic communication lines: optical insertion loss (optical attenuation). As a rule, optical testers can also operate in optical light source and in mode optical power meter combining these two devices. Moreover, in the source mode, usually 2 wavelengths are supported, and in the power meter mode – dozens of waves (there are models calibrated at all CWDM wavelengths). As an option, optical testers can contain a built-in visual flaw detector (VFL). Some models support the connection of an optical microscope.
The most functional models of optical testers, in addition to measuring the insertion loss, can measure the reverse or as they are also called return loss (ORL – Optical Return Loss), as well as perform measurements in automatic mode at once at all wavelengths, in both directions with simultaneous certification of fibers for compliance with various telecommunication standards.

Discontinued models
All manufacturers of optical testers (OLTS) regularly develop and launch new models with enhanced features and improved performance. After some time, after the start of sales of new models, old models and series are discontinued.
After the cessation of production of a particular model, we continue to support it: service and repair. As a rule, after being discontinued, factory repairs are possible for 5 years or more. After the stock of original microcircuits and spare parts in the service center is exhausted, professional factory repair becomes impossible.
