DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The ITECH IT7600 series of powerful programmable AC power supplies was put into production in mid-2017. Many of its functions are based on a simpler series of single-phase sources. ITECH IT7300 which was released a year earlier. However, the IT7600 series has many important features that were not there before: the ability to work in three-phase mode, maximum output power up to 54 thousand Volt-Amps, adding a constant component to the output alternating signals (AC + DC mode) and many others.

ITECH IT7600 Series AC Power Supplies Solve Multiple Challenges
The ITECH IT7600 series AC power supplies solve many problems.

Typical areas of application for IT7600 series sources include:
- stress tests of equipment with an unstable power supply;
- development and testing of inverters, AC-DC converters, uninterruptible power supplies;
- development of units for alternative energy (wind generators, solar panels);
- testing of single-phase and three-phase electric motors;
- testing of electrical transformers;
- testing of consumer electronics, including electromagnetic compatibility;
- imitation of various operating modes of the power supply network;
- Checking electric vehicle charging stations;
- Scientific research.

The rest of this page shows the main features of the ITECH IT7600 series. You can download a full description of all the characteristics of this series below on this page in the section Documentation.

Simulation of a three-phase power supply using ITECH IT7600 sources

The three lower models of the series (IT7622, IT7624 and IT7626) are single-phase, but by combining them into a system, you can form a three-phase output. Models IT7627 and IT7628 allow you to switch between single-phase and three-phase modes with a single button. And the powerful models IT7628L, IT7630, IT7632, IT7634 and IT7636 are fully three-phase.

Simulation of a three-phase network with a "star" and "triangle" connection scheme is supported. Depending on the task, any imbalance can be formed by changing the voltage amplitudes, their phases, adding a constant component, harmonics and all kinds of instabilities to any of the phases.

As an example of using this function, let's take a test of the on-board power supply systems in aircraft. ITECH IT7600 series programmable sources can generate test voltages in full compliance with industry standards ISO 1540-2006 and GJB 5189-2003, which allows you to test the operation of the aircraft power supply system in normal, abnormal and emergency modes.

Generation of voltages with harmonic distortion

A real electrical network almost always contains harmonics of the fundamental frequency. A small level of harmonic distortion usually does not adversely affect the operation of powered equipment. However, with a significant level of distortion, the normal operation of the equipment may be disrupted. To check resistance to such effects, it is necessary to carry out appropriate tests.

ITECH IT7600 AC power supplies provide the solution to this problem. They can generate signals containing various harmonic components in the frequency range from 10 Hz to 5000 Hz. This screenshot shows an example of the formation of such a voltage.

Simulation of an unstable power supply

A standard set of tests for electrical equipment usually includes a test to check the performance of various mains deviations. ITECH IT7600 AC voltage sources can generate a wide variety of such deviations: transients, voltage surges and dips, undervoltage, simulated short-term short circuits, etc.

Test kits according to the methods of major international standards, such as IEC 61000-4-11, are included as standard with IT7600 sources. This screenshot shows an example of the formation of seven periods of the fundamental frequency, in two of which a reduced voltage is formed.

Possibility to add a constant component

The ITECH IT7600 AC Power Supply Series can output AC voltage (AC mode), DC voltage (DC mode), and AC voltage with a DC component (AC + DC mode). This is a unique and very useful feature that has many practical applications, such as testing power semiconductor modules (triacs, thyristors, diodes, etc.) for resistance to large DC offsets. This screenshot shows the AC output waveform with 50 volts DC added.

List mode (LIST), step mode (STEP) and support for importing CSV files

To simplify the task of generating mains typical deviations as much as possible, the IT7600 variable sources support list mode, step mode, jump mode, dip mode, and also allow you to load any waveform from a CSV file into the instrument's memory.

In LIST mode, the IT7600 series source changes the state of its outputs according to a list of user-defined values. Each of the given values will be maintained for the required number of milliseconds.

In STEP mode, the output value (for example, amplitude or frequency) will change by the amount of the step after the specified number of milliseconds. For example, you can set the output voltage to increase by 10 volts every 5 seconds, starting at 100 volts and ending at 250 volts.

Surge mode (SURGE) allows you to superimpose many short-term surges (surges) on a sinusoidal output signal, which is used to simulate a real power network that contains large switching loads, such as electric motors.

Trap mode (TRAP) allows multiple short voltage dips to be superimposed on the sinusoidal output signal, which is used to simulate a real power network with thin wires, which has powerful short-term connected loads, such as electric arc welders.

In order to generate non-standard waveforms, as well as signals of any arbitrary shape, the sources of the TECH IT7600 series provide for the import of files with the CSV extension, which may contain the necessary curves. In addition, the IT7600 series has an analog input interface with a ±10 Volt input voltage range that allows you to receive signals from a separate generator, for example Tektronix AFG1000.

Built-in multimeter and wattmeter

In order to effectively monitor the status of the AC voltage outputs, the ITECH IT7600 series models incorporate an accurate digital multimeter that measures major and minor output signal parameters, including voltages, currents, active, reactive and apparent powers on each channel. This screenshot shows an example of the built-in multimeter.
