Notes:
1 Number of channels - the number of analog channels is indicated. If the oscilloscope is also equipped with digital channels as standard, then their number is indicated after the "+" sign. If digital channels are available as an option, this is marked as (opt.).
2 Record length - the standard recording depth per channel is indicated, in many series the memory size can be increased using additional options.
3 Oscillograms per second - indicates the speed of continuous capture and analysis of waveforms, which can actually be provided by a specific model. Several tens of waveforms per second are enough to view stationary signals. To detect infrequent interference or fast signal changes, choose a model capable of delivering at least 5,000 waveforms per second. Read the article for details: description of DPO technology.
4 Spectrum analyzer - four types of spectrum analyzers are used in oscilloscopes: software-based FFT (FFT), software-hardware based on SpectrumView, software-based SignalVu and a full-fledged hardware radio spectrum analyzer. The software analyzer based on the FFT (FFT) has two main drawbacks: it works only with large amplitude signals (10 mV or more) and when using it, as a rule, it is not possible to simultaneously see the signal itself and its spectrum. The SpectrumView-based firmware analyzer has a separate digital spectrum processor in each oscilloscope channel and provides ease of use and capabilities far beyond the FFT. The SignalVu-based software analyzer has very broad RF analysis capabilities, including vector demodulation, but like the FFT and SpectrumView only works with large amplitude signals. A fully hardware analyzer allows you to fully measure the spectral characteristics of even weak radio signals with an amplitude of less than 1 μV (less than -107 dBm).
All series and models of modern digital oscilloscopes and probes
The table below provides a broad list of new oscilloscopes grouped into three categories: entry level (50 MHz - 200 MHz) with basic capabilities, middle level (100 MHz - 1 GHz) with additional features (serial bus decoding, digital phosphor, etc.) and professional (500 MHz and more with a wide range of additional functions). The full list of offered models is much wider:

Comparison of digital oscilloscopes by price level
When choosing an oscilloscope, the first question that you may be interested in is the cost of the instrument. The cost of digital oscilloscopes depends on many parameters, such as: bandwidth, sample rate, number of channels, memory size, built-in protocol analysis, etc.
If, when choosing a suitable model, you focus only on its price, then you may not be satisfied with other important parameters. On the contrary, think about the value of the device, based on its characteristics and capabilities. good device allows you to quickly and efficiently perform work, and this saves time, nerves and money.
In the range up to $1,000 Basically, you can buy economy models with a bandwidth of 25 - 70 MHz, as well as various USB and Bluetooth set-top boxes that use the screen of a computer, tablet or smartphone to display the signal. But there are also full-fledged "classic" devices. If you want to buy the best oscilloscope under $1,000, be sure to check out the economy series Tektronix TBS1000B.
In the range from $1,000 to $4,000 there are most interesting models with a bandwidth of 100 - 200 MHz and advanced functionality for analyzing analog and digital signals. Typical in this price range: Benchtop mixed signal oscilloscopes MSO2000 and DPO2000 and oscilloscopes that only have analog channels TBS2000B. And the cheapest series in this price range are USB oscilloscopes PicoScope 3000D.
In the range over $4,000 you can buy oscilloscopes for serious development and complex repairs. The bandwidth of such instruments is typically 300 MHz or more, there is the ability to analyze digital signals (typically 16 channels), there may be a separate spectrum analyzer input for comprehensive analysis in the frequency domain, as well as many additional options to facilitate operation. Typical representatives of this range: classic series MDO3 and USB series PicoScope 6000E.
Series of oscilloscopes, which belong to expensive, professional solutions, start with a line MDO4000C with a price from $8 000, include three new series (MSO4, MSO5, MSO6) and end with the top series DPO/MSO70000 with maximum performance (band up to 33 GHz) and price from $40,000. Due to their unique features, these devices will fit perfectly into the measurement laboratory working on large projects.

Models out of production
Measurement equipment manufacturers regularly develop and launch new models of oscilloscopes and probes with enhanced capabilities and improved performance. After some time, after the start of sales of new models, old models and series out of production. For a complete list of discontinued models, with suggested replacements available for purchase, see here: discontinued oscilloscopes and probes.
Basic theory on oscilloscopes and oscilloscope measurements
Making basic measurements with an oscilloscope is not difficult. Even a novice can plug in a probe and see the shape of a simple waveform. But to find errors in a signal, analyze digital buses, measure small signals, high voltage and other real-world tasks, you will need special knowledge and practical experience.
Here are collected the main documents on the theory of oscilloscope measurements that will help you understand this issue and improve your professional level. For complex and incomprehensible moments, write to us by e-mail or call - we will be happy to advise.

Assistance in the selection of equipment at the best price
Choose and buy inexpensive and high quality oscilloscope is not always easy. When choosing a model, in addition to the standard parameters: number of channels, bandwidth and sample rate, it is necessary to take into account the additional characteristics and capabilities of the analyzer: record length, sensitivity, continuous waveform capture rate, availability of digital channels, type of built-in spectrum analyzer, standard measurements (period, frequency, delay, rise time, etc.), programming capability and convenience, built-in digital interfaces, a set of additional functions, the operating temperature range, the quality and durability of the device, the reputation of the manufacturer, the professionalism and reliability of the supplier, the availability of after-sales service, the warranty period, and much more.
In addition, you may need technical advice on the types of instruments produced: classic or digital phosphor, real-time or equivalent digitization, conventional or electrically isolated channels. And do not forget about suitable probes.
Of course, you can make a complete set yourself, using the materials of our website, or you can send us a request in advance on Email with a description of the technical requirements and call us to briefly discuss your task.
