DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Both 2-channel (TBS2072 and TBS2102) and 4-channel (TBS2074 and TBS2104) Tektronix TBS2000 series oscilloscope models very comfortable to work and help you quickly and efficiently perform practical measurements. The time of analysis of electrical signals is reduced due to the special buttons and control knobs, which provide quick access to the main settings of the oscilloscope. Most other oscilloscopes have 8 vertical divisions and 10 horizontal divisions, while the TBS2000 series oscilloscopes have 10 vertical divisions and 15 horizontal divisions, which will allow you to see more details in the measured signals. This page details the main features of this series of oscilloscopes. You can download a full description of all the characteristics below on this page in the section Documentation.

Long recording length with pan and zoom

The Tektronix TBS2000 oscilloscopes are selectable from 2K to 20M samples in length to capture waveforms over long periods of time. When setting a long record length facilitates the search for various signal anomalies and verification of digital signal sequences. To view long records, a separate "Zoom" knob is used, which allows you to quickly scroll through the recorded signal and scale selected fragments for detailed examination.

In zoom mode, the Tektronix TBS2000 oscilloscope displays up to 20M waveforms at the top of the display. The selected section of the signal is shown in detail below.

Using cursors to take measurements

Cursors on Tektronix TBS2000 oscilloscopes are vertical or horizontal lines on the screen that perform measurements of various signal parameters, for example, the time and amplitude of any point in the signal. Cursors also show the absolute difference in value between the two cursor positions (delta). Cursor readings are displayed next to the cursors themselves. This is a very handy feature for accurately measuring any waveform, especially complex waveforms.

Automatic measurements have never been so easy

With Tektronix TBS2000 oscilloscopes, selecting from 32 automatic measurements is done using just one page, without navigating through complex menus. Most Used measurements are located at the top of the screen. Below, all measurements are grouped into four groups by type: frequency, time, amplitude, and area. When you hover over any measurement, a visual graphical hint is shown at the very bottom of the screen, showing exactly what will be measured. Such a complete set of automatic measurements allows you to speed up and simplify the analysis of a variety of signals.

With Tektronix TBS2000 oscilloscopes, 32 measurements can be selected from one intuitive screen. At the very bottom of the screen, a visual graphic hint is shown.

Measurements are indicated by the color of the input signal and are shown on a transparent background without covering the waveforms. If necessary, the built-in help system can provide detailed hints that simplify measurements and allow them to correctly interpret their results.

All Tektronix TBS2000 oscilloscopes are equipped with the FFT function

There are many signals that have some kind of distortion or unwanted parameters. Sometimes such distortions do not affect the signal flow through the circuit. But often the pulses of the system clock generator, noise from the power supply or other source can affect the useful signal and disrupt its proper passage. The FFT function is a powerful tool to help you find the frequencies of unwanted signals that interfere with the main signal.

Press the dedicated FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) button on the front panel of the oscilloscope, and the screen the frequency spectrum of the input signal will be displayed. You can display only the FFT result on the screen, or you can display the FFT along with the display of the original signal to see both the frequency and time domain. The main settings of this function are displayed on a transparent background, without interfering with the reading of information from the FFT screen.

In this figure, the original signal in the time domain (at the top of the screen) is displayed simultaneously with its spectrum (at the bottom of the screen)

Tektronix TBS2000 oscilloscopes support both conventional and active probes.

All instruments in the Tektronix TBS2000 series (models TBS2072, TBS2102, TBS2074 and TBS2104), although they belong to the basic level oscilloscopes, are equipped with universal TekVPI probe connection interface, which is compatible with both conventional BNC probes and active voltage and current probes, which are used in various complex applications.

Power is applied to the probe through the TekVPI interface and a bi-directional communication channel is established between the probe and the TBS2000 oscilloscope. Scale factors and status information such as error correction are automatically transferred from the probe to the oscilloscope for processing and display. You don't have to spend time manually setting scaling factors, calculating offsets, or making sure the clamps are closed and the current probe core is demagnetized.

When an active probe is connected, the TekVPI interface automatically transfers information about scale factors, selected ranges, and settings between the probe and the Tektronix TBS2000 oscilloscope
