SHORT DESCRIPTION

Series Tektronix TBS1000B positioned as basic entry-level digital oscilloscopes, while being very reliable and functional. The oscilloscopes in this series include everything you need to work efficiently: 34 automated measurements, auto-tuning, limit monitoring, data logging, a USB interface, and a context-sensitive help system. In addition, the TBS1000B series includes a dual-channel frequency counter, an FFT function with the ability to simultaneously view the signal and its spectrum, and a TrendPlot function for long-term analysis of slowly changing signal values.

There are several instruments in the TBS1000B series that contain a built-in system to simplify and automate the teaching process. Such oscilloscopes have -EDU in the model name (for example: TBS1052B-EDU, TBS1102B-EDU, etc.). Oscilloscopes Tektronix TBS1000B-EDU allow instructors to write lab descriptions and download material directly to the instrument. After that, students can perform laboratory work directly with the oscilloscope and record the progress data in a result file, which is compiled from screenshots. In this case, all oscilloscopes in the laboratory can be combined into a single system. You can download a full description of all the characteristics below on this page in the section Documentation.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

To effectively analyze signals, you need to ensure they are viewed with maximum detail, so the TBS1000B series oscilloscopes are equipped with a widescreen LCD display with a diagonal of 17.8 cm, which provides a high-quality display of signals and auxiliary information. With a bandwidth of up to 200 MHz, a maximum sampling rate of 2 Gsamples per second, and a vertical measurement error of 3%, the instruments of the series TBS1000B allow you to see even the smallest details of the signal.

The TBS1000B series oscilloscopes use proprietary Tektronix technology that continuously samples the signal in real time on all channels with 10x oversampling. That is, there will be at least 10 digitization points per signal period, which significantly improves the display quality of high frequency signals. Note that the sample rate does not decrease even when using multiple channels or changing the sweep speed.

The user interface of these oscilloscopes is based on the award-winning interface of the older Tektronix MSO/DPO series. It is very convenient, provides quick access to all the instrument's functions, and has a "Pan and Zoom" mode in which signal details can be magnified up to 10 times the normal mode.

Digital Oscilloscope Series Tektronix TBS1000B consists of six models: TBS1032B, TBS1052B, TBS1072B, TBS1102B, TBS1152B and TBS1202B, and educational special series Tektronix TBS1000B-EDU consists of five models: TBS1052B-EDU, TBS1072B-EDU, TBS1102B-EDU, TBS1152B-EDU and TBS1202B-EDU.

34 types of automated measurements in Tektronix TBS1000B and TBS1000B-EDU oscilloscopes

The TBS1000B and TBS1000B-EDU Series oscilloscopes provide a wide range of math functions and automated measurements to help you evaluate the quality of your captured signal. You can quickly add, subtract, and multiply waveforms, or use one of 34 automated measurements to increase reliability and speed up calculations of important waveform parameters such as frequency, rise time, or glitch duration.

The photo below shows a complex waveform and the automatic measurement selection menu. The checkboxes in the menu indicate the measurements the oscilloscope should apply to the waveform: frequency, peak-to-peak amplitude, maximum amplitude, rise time, average voltage, and RMS voltage. On the screen, immediately below the signal, the results of these measurements are displayed.

FFT function with simultaneous signal and spectrum view

The front panel of the TBS1000B and TBS1000B-EDU series oscilloscopes has a separate button for analyzing the signal in the frequency domain. Pressing this button gives the user quick access to the FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) function to display the spectrum of the signal. Spectrum analysis helps to identify signal features that are difficult to detect with conventional methods, such as the presence of harmonic components in the signal itself or interference from the power supply. The unique feature of this feature is the ability to simultaneously observe the signal itself and its spectrum which makes it easier to understand the relationship between them.

The photo below shows a 1 kHz square wave signal and its spectrum calculated using the FFT function. The spectrum of a repeating square wave signal consists only of odd harmonics.

Advanced Monitoring and Signal Analysis

There are two kinds of processes that are difficult to trace with conventional methods: an infrequently occurring event and a slowly changing signal characteristic. To detect such phenomena, the Tektronix TBS1000B and TBS1000B-EDU oscilloscopes have a TrendPlot function (trend analysis) that can plot measured values over time over long periods - from minutes to hours or even days.
