MAIN CHARACTERISTICS
The principle of operation of the R&S FSU high end spectrum analyzer is essentially the same as that of a general purpose spectrum analyzer R&S FSP, so that these devices form a single platform for solving a wide variety of tasks. The R&S FSU even outperforms the proven excellent RF performance of the R&S FSE and R&S FSIQ families. Measurements requiring an extremely wide dynamic range just got easier, faster and more reliable - in development, in quality assurance systems and in production.
Some mobile radio standards such as TETRA and IS-136 require the use of RRC filters for power measurements. These filters are installed in the R&S FSU. In addition, there are channel filters that support other analog and digital standards such as cdmaOne, AM/FM radio and ETS 300 113. Channel filters can also be used to measure adjacent channel power due to switching. For conventional mobile radio standards, the R&S FSU offers time domain adjacent channel power (fast ACP) measurement procedures to provide faster measurements and higher repeatability.
The R&S FSU-B9 (internal tracking oscillator up to 3.6 GHz) and R&S FSU-B10 (external oscillator control) options turn the R&S FSU signal generator into a scalar network analyzer. Thanks to selective measurements, it is possible to measure gain, frequency response, direct and return losses in a wide dynamic range, eliminating the influence of harmonics or parasitic spectral components of the generator. The R&S FSU-B9 internal tracking generator can be installed in all R&S FSU models and covers a frequency range from 100 kHz to 3.6 GHz. For measurements on modules operating with frequency conversion, a frequency offset of up to ±150 MHz can be set. The tracking generator can be modulated with an external I/Q signal.
