Video overview of the Aaronia SPECTRAN V5 series from Productronica 2015 in Germany

After several years of active development, the SPECTRAN V5 series was finally presented in 2015 at the German Productronica exhibition. In this short video, straight from the Aaronia booth, several SPECTRAN V5 models in different designs are shown in action.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The Aaronia SPECTRAN V5 real-time spectrum analyzer is designed to detect even the shortest pulses (down to 1 µs), and its scan speed and continuous signal recording capability are unrivaled: scanning the full 20 GHz band in less than 20 ms. With this spectrum analyzer, you can solve virtually any real-world problem - spectrum monitoring, radio measurements, interference hunting, EMC testing, or measuring Wi-Fi and any other wireless data network.

Such performance, unique among portable spectrum analyzers, is provided by the completely new, innovative internal design of the SPECTRAN V5 analyzers. In the development of these analyzers, Aaronia registered 12 new patents, one of which is issued for dynamically tunable polyphase filters implemented on a specialized FPGA chip. Vector processing, statistical analysis and demodulation are also performed on a separate chip. As a result of this approach, SPECTRAN V5 analyzers are very fast and, since the main processing is performed by the analyzer itself, stable data streaming to a computer is possible even via USB 2.0 interface (see below on this page for a demonstration of the operation of the software Aaronia RTSA Suite).

Aaronia RTSA Suite software for Aaronia SPECTRAN V5 spectrum analyzers

Powerful free PC software is included with every SPECTRAN V5 analyzer RTSA Suite, with which you can control the analyzer and view measurement results directly on your computer screen. Thus, you can display the spectrum image on a FullHD screen (1920 x 1080 dots) or even on a 4K display (3840 x 2160 dots) and view the smallest details of the spectrogram.

Aaronia RTSA Suite - control and display software for measurement results is included free of charge with every SPECTRAN V5 analyzer
Aaronia RTSA Suite, a control and display software, is included free of charge with every SPECTRAN V5 analyzer.

Due to the fact that most of the data processing is performed inside the SPECTRAN V5 analyzer itself and that the software for the RTSA Suite computer is written from scratch with a large number of optimizations, even a computer with a low-power Intel Atom processor can be used for remote control. The ability to use a low-power computer for control significantly expands the scope of the SPECTRAN V5 analyzers, for example, it can significantly reduce the cost and extend the battery life for embedded systems. And when using a computer based on the Intel i5 processor, the operator is provided with the most comfortable work in all operating modes. RTSA Suite is compatible with operating systems: Windows, MAC OS and Linux.

In this video, you will see some of the many features of the Aaronia RTSA Suite software that allow you to effectively manage the operation of any analyzer in the SPECTRAN V5 series and conduct a comprehensive analysis of measurement results, both in real time and previously stored.

Aaronia SPECTRAN V5 analyzers provide up to 175 MHz real-time acquisition bandwidth

For effective analysis of any signals (Wi-Fi, LTE, GSM/EDGE, W-CDMA/HSPA+, CDMA, EV-DO, ISDB-T, DVB-T/H, etc.), it is necessary that the real-time capture bandwidth be larger than the spectral width of the signal under study.

This video shows that the 22 MHz capture bandwidth is struggling to visualize the operation of a single Wi-Fi channel. After that, the capture bandwidth is switched to 44 MHz and one Wi-Fi channel is displayed with a good margin. But once the real-time acquisition bandwidth is set to 175 MHz, it becomes possible to see two transmission channels simultaneously, as well as the spectral components that appear between and beyond the channels.

Demonstration of the option to expand the real-time capture bandwidth up to 175 MHz. <br>Pay attention to how detailed you can see the simultaneous operation of several Wi-Fi channels.

Six housing types for different applications of Aaronia SPECTRAN V5 spectrum analyzers

In the modern information world, there are a huge number of applications for spectrum analyzers: from quiet laboratories with a constant temperature to cold snowy fields where base stations and mobile communication repeaters can be installed.

To suit each possible application, the Aaronia SPECTRAN V5 spectrum analyzers are available in six housing types: miniature handheld touch screen housing weighing 850 grams; enclosures), outdoor all-weather design (Remote Outdoorbox), for mounting in a 19-inch rack, as well as inside a rugged laptop for permanent work in open areas.
