MAIN CHARACTERISTICS

The Anritsu UMTS Master MT 8220 A is a handheld transmitter analyzer designed to verify GSM / GPRS and / EDGE & W - CDMA / HSDPA Node B equipment, to install, deploy and maintain a wireless network. UMTS Master MT 8220 A combines the functions of a transmitter analyzer and a portable spectrum analyzer MS 2721 A up to 7.1 GHz in one ultra-light (only 2.9 kg) device with independent power supply (Li - Ion battery).

Specifications

UMTS Master MT8220A supports the following standards:
- GSM / GPRS / EDGE: T-GSM 380, T-GSM 410, GSM 450, GSM 480, GSM 710, GSM 750, T-GSM 810, GSM 850, GSM 900, E-GSM 900, R-GSM 900, T-GSM 900, DCS 1800, PCS 1900
- W-CDMA / HSDPA:
824 to 894 MHz (Band V, VI)
1710 to 2170 MHz (Band I, II, III, IV)
2300 to 2700 MHz

UMTS Master MT8220A has the following measurement and test functions:
- Microwave measurements
- Demodulation of GSM / GPRS / EDGE & W-CDMA / HSDPA signals by direct connection to a Node B or over the air (OTA)
- The frequency range of the spectrum analyzer is not split, but continuous 100 kHz to 7.1 GHz

With a narrow 10Hz bandwidth and a low average noise floor of -153dBm at 1GHz, the MT8220A can easily measure very weak signals.

Peculiarities

The UMTS Master MT 8220 A has a built-in GPS receiver that provides accurate location and timing information. In addition, the GPS option increases the accuracy of the internal reference oscillator to +/- 25 ppb ( parts per billion ), which is especially useful when the MT 8220 A is operating in on-air measurement mode, where the external clock signal comes from the base station. The optional interference analysis function (for example, recording changes in power level over time) as well as the channel scanner (which can simultaneously measure power in 20 channels of various communication systems) are advanced measurement capabilities that eliminate the need to carry a lot of additional equipment.

The MT 8220 A has a special one-key measurement function (field strength, channel power, occupied bandwidth, adjacent channel power ratio, signal to noise ratio, AM / FM / SSB demodulation), as well as a built-in frequency allocation table.

Software

Each UMTS Master MT 8220 A comes with a complete data management and analysis package (“Master Software Tools”) that helps the user to easily manage, archive and analyze the system's historical status.

The software allows you to update the firmware of the MT 8220 A instrument, export measurement data as text files for further processing in spreadsheets, and much more.

Design and interfaces

The UMTS Master MT 8220 A analyzer is equipped with an 8.4 inch (21.3 cm) color display that works optimally both indoors and outdoors, in any light and weather, and has SVGA resolution. The use of an external Compact Flash memory module expands the storage capacity of the MT8220A to an unlimited number of traces and setups. Ethernet 10/100 Base-T and USB 2.0 interfaces allow more flexibility in loading and unloading traces, setups, and more.
