SHORT DESCRIPTION

A series of ultra-compact analyzers of AFU (antenna-feeder devices), cables and antennas Anritsu S331P specially designed as an inexpensive, compact solution with the ability to connect directly to the measurement object, which gives additional savings - no need for an expensive phase-stable cable. The Anritsu S331P analyzer is powered and transmits data via a USB 2.0 connector. It can be connected to any computer or tablet running Windows 7, 8 or 10. Powerful measurement processing software comes standard with every Anritsu S331P.

Areas of use:
- cellular networks
- distributed antenna systems (DAS)
- public safety communications networks (PMR)
- any system containing coaxes, feeders, antennas and similar devices up to 6 GHz

The smallest and most affordable cable and antenna analyzer

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

In September 2016, the American company Anritsu introduced the Site Master S331P - the cheapest and most practical device for measuring SWR, return loss, finding problem areas in feeders, matching antennas and other similar tasks in the frequency range up to 6 GHz. The meter itself is housed in a compact housing that can be connected directly or through an adapter to the device being measured. Other models use a phase-stable cable for connection, which is not cheap, and with the Anritsu S331P analyzer, in most cases, you can do without this cable.

The Anritsu S331P analyzer is powered and transmits data via a USB connection. Any device running Windows 7, 8 or 10 can be used to control its operation. The photo below shows the S331P connected to a tablet with the control software installed, which is included as standard with each instrument.

Examples of measurements made by the Anritsu S331P analyzer

Using the ultra-compact Anritsu S331P analyzer, you can quickly and accurately measure all important parameters of antenna-feed devices: voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), return loss (return loss), distance to fault (in SWR and return loss), cable loss, display a Smith chart.

The figure below shows a screenshot with the results of measuring the VSWR of the antenna in the frequency range from 3500 MHz to 4000 MHz. Marker 1 is set to a transmit frequency of 3622 MHz, which requires maximum antenna matching.

The same antenna, measured over the same frequency range from 3500 MHz to 4000 MHz, but the measurement result is reported as Return Loss. Return loss and VSWR are interrelated concepts and can be easily converted into each other using a simple formula. Since the return loss calculation uses a logarithmic scale, areas with poor matching can be seen very well.

The compactness of the Anritsu S331P is convenience and savings

The ultra-compact body of the Anritsu S331P analyzer, as well as the processing and display of results on an external device, made it possible to significantly reduce the cost of this instrument. In addition, in many cases it is possible to connect the analyzer directly to the feeder, antenna or other device to be measured. This provides additional savings, since an expensive phase-stable cable is not needed.

The analyzer is fitted with an N(m) connector, allowing direct connection to equipment with N(f) connectors. If other connectors are installed on the equipment, for example 7/16, then you can use an additional transition adapter, which is significantly cheaper than a phase-stable cable. The photo below shows an example of using Anritsu S331P on a real object.
