DETAILED DESCRIPTION

In early 2014, the American company Anritsu introduced Site Master S820E - the world's first portable microwave analyzer of cables and antennas in the range up to 40 GHz. This instrument allows Anritsu to continue to maintain the leadership position it achieved with the introduction of the first wideband (up to 20 GHz) Site Master analyzer family more than 15 years ago. In addition to covering an impressive frequency range from 1 MHz to 40 GHz, the new Site Master S820E delivers industry-leading dynamic range, directivity and reliability, enabling technicians to make highly accurate measurements both in the lab and on site.

Anritsu S820E series includes 5 models with high frequency range: up to 8 GHz, up to 14 GHz, up to 20 GHz, up to 30 GHz, up to 40 GHz
The Anritsu S820E series includes 5 models that differ in the upper frequency range: up to 8 GHz, up to 14 GHz, up to 20 GHz, up to 30 GHz, up to 40 GHz.

With a dynamic range of 110 dB up to 40 GHz, the Site Master S820E even in the field delivers performance normally only found in fixed installations, allowing you to meet the measurement challenges inherent in today's wireless networks. Best-in-class frequency resolution of 1 Hz provides users with extensive measurement options. The wide frequency range provides high distance resolution, ie the ability to make more accurate distance-to-discontinuity (DTF) measurements.

The powerful processor built into the Site Master S820E provides the analyzer with a sweep speed of 650 µs per point, making measurements more efficient. With excellent directivity, the Anritsu S820E provides the highest accuracy possible for a handheld analyzer. Unlike other portable microwave cable and antenna analyzers, the instrument is also immune to RF interference up to +17 dBm. This allows users to achieve stable and accurate measurements in the most adverse radio conditions.

Designed for testing coax and waveguide systems, the Anritsu Site Master S820E provides all the basic measurements of single port devices such as Return Loss, Voltage Standing Wave Ratio, Cable Loss, Distance to Fault (DTF), Phase, and generates pie chart of impedance. In addition, the Site Master S820E allows you to perform gain measurements and cable loss tests for two-port devices. The program comes with the analyzer Anritsu easyTest Tools, which allows you to standardize tests for repetitive measurements, as well as a program Anritsu Line Sweep Tools, which simplifies the generation of reports.

Vector Network Analyzer Mode (Option S820E-0440)

With the S820E-0440 option, the Anritsu S820E Waveguide, Cable and Antenna Analyzer adds Vector Network Analyzer mode. This makes it possible to measure all S-parameters of two-port systems (S11, S21, S22, S12) and analyze in the time domain with the possibility of gating. In the network analyzer mode, measurement results can be simultaneously displayed on several graphs (up to 4).

Vector Voltmeter Mode (Option S820E-0441)

With the S820E-0441 option, the Anritsu S820E Waveguide, Cable and Antenna Analyzer adds a Vector Voltmeter mode, allowing it to be used instead of legacy Vector Voltmeters if required. With A/B and B/A ratio measurements, the S820E provides a compact, reliable and cost-effective solution for engineers and installers who need to measure when deploying, installing and maintaining wireless networks.

When using the A/B and B/A ratio measurement mode, the S820E's unique auto-tuning feature allows you to trigger from an external reference source that can be up to ±100 kHz away from the selected frequency, without the need to expand the IF bandwidth or set a common reference signal 10 MHz. The input sensitivity of reference receivers A or B is automatically adjusted from +5 dBm to -60 dBm, which is superior to conventional vector voltmeters.

Design of Anritsu Site Master S820E Series Portable Analyzers

The Site Master S820E Microwave Analyzer meets MIL-PRF-28800F requirements for devices used in explosive atmospheres. The instrument measures 273 x 199 x 91 mm and weighs only 3.0 kg. For accurate measurements in the field, Anritsu offers coaxial calibration kits rated for operation from -10°C to +55°C. The wide calibration temperature range of +/-10°C requires fewer recalibrations, increasing efficiency.

The S820E analyzer, like previous instruments in the Site Master family, is designed primarily for field technicians. The analyzer's battery provides six hours of continuous operation on a single charge. In addition, the instrument features an oversized (21.3 cm) thin-film touch screen with best-in-class 800 x 600 resolution, allowing users to view results in any light. An intuitive graphical interface featuring a large alphanumeric keyboard with customizable name matrix makes naming files quick and easy.
