SHORT DESCRIPTION

New series of generators Tektronix AWG4000 provides a balance between a large set of instrument features and ease of use. To do this, the AWG4000 series provides three modes of operation: function generator mode, in which you can simply issue any of the 12 standard signals, Arbitrary Generator Mode, in which you can generate any complex signals according to a given formula, from a computer file or combined from other signals, as well as an optional pattern generator mode for 16 or 32 channels.

Since the AWG4000 series is new and will be expanded, it now includes one model: Tektronix AWG4162 with two 750 MHz analog channels with DAC rates from 100 S/s to 2.5 GS/s and digital channels up to 1.25 Gb/s (16 channels - Option DO16 or 32 channels - Option DO32) . For easy generator upgrades and lower operating costs, any option can be activated later with the purchase of a software key. In this case, the generator does not need to be sent to a service center. You can download a full description of all the characteristics below on this page in the section Documentation.

Tektronix AWG4000 Arbitrary Waveform Generator Video Review

This video briefly shows the capabilities of the Tektronix AWG4000 series of arbitrary waveform generators, standard functions, and digital sequences.

A quick video overview of the capabilities of the Tektronix AWG4000 Arbitrary Waveform Generators.

Three basic modes of operation of Tektronix AWG4000 generators

In mode arbitrary waveform generator You can generate complex signals using a variety of methods. For example, by combining standard and your own signals, composing cycles and various sequences from them. You can also use a formula that describes the signal or use the ArbExpress program, which is included in the instrument delivery package, to create a file on your computer and upload it to the generator. Additionally, you can add noise and apply filtering.

Pattern generator mode allows you to generate digital signals on 16 or 32 channels, which are fully synchronized with each other and two analog channels. The ability to simultaneously work with analog and digital signals is in great demand in the development and testing of analog-to-digital (ADC) and digital-to-analog (DAC) converters, complex digital circuits, and time and frequency synchronization systems.

But often there is a need to generate a standard analog signal as quickly as possible. To do this, the AWG4000 series provides function generator mode, in which you can simply issue any of the 12 standard signals by changing just a few parameters, such as amplitude and frequency. Below is an example screen of the AWG4000 in function generator mode. Pay attention to the simplicity and clarity of this mode.
