Workswell MEDICAS Thermal Imaging System Video Review

This video demonstrates the work of the Workswell MEDICAS thermal imaging system in detecting people with a fever, and also shows the production of components of this system. After watching this video, you can briefly get acquainted with the main features and design features of the Workswell MEDICAS system.

A brief video overview of the capabilities of the Workswell MEDICAS thermal imaging system.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The main purpose of the Workswell MEDICAS thermal imaging system is the automatic detection of people with elevated body temperature in the flow of people. This system is usually installed at the checkpoint of enterprises, educational institutions, airports, railway stations, subways and any facilities where there is a need to identify and restrict access to their territory for people potentially suffering from infectious diseases.

The main module of the Workswell MEDICAS system contains two cameras: an infrared camera for temperature measurement and a high-resolution optical camera for visual inspection. Also, an industrial computer is integrated into the main unit, which performs all the necessary processing, records and displays the image on an external monitor.

Customizable temperature levels

To simplify the work of the operator, the Workswell MEDICAS system uses an understandable visualization system. Grayscale displays all objects of the environment and people with a normal temperature. Yellow shows areas of people's faces with elevated temperatures, and red shows people's faces with very high temperatures.

The standard yellow zone thresholds set in the software are 37°C lower limit and 38°C upper limit, however these can be changed at will.

The photo shows an example of how color rendering works. This person has a temperature of most of the face above 37°C, and in the region of the left eye there is an area whose temperature is above 38°C.

Location of system elements for accurate temperature measurement

The Workswell MEDICAS system provides very high long-term non-contact temperature measurement accuracy of 0.3°C. To do this, in addition to a high-quality thermal imaging camera, the system includes a separate device with a precisely normalized radiation temperature (blackbody), which must always be in the camera's field of view.

During operation, the software of the Workswell MEDICAS system constantly corrects the data coming from the thermal imaging camera, taking into account the non-contact measured temperature of the black body. In this way, continuous correction of changes in ambient temperature and compensation for the drift of the parameters of the chamber itself are performed.

The Workswell MEDICAS thermal imaging camera has two non-contact temperature measurement ranges. The first range: from 3 to 6 meters, in which case the black body must be placed at a distance of 4 meters from the camera. Second range: from 7 to 11 meters, in which case the black body must be placed at a distance of 8 meters from the camera. Changing the focal length (4 or 8 meters) is performed by turning a special ring on the front panel of the thermal imaging camera. This figure shows schematically how the elements of the system should be positioned to ensure maximum accuracy of non-contact temperature measurement.
