Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy (PDH) is a digital data and voice transmission method based on channel time division and signal presentation technology using pulse code modulation (PCM). In PDH technology the signal of the main digital channel (BCC) is used as an input, and a data stream with speeds n x 64 kbit/s is formed at the output. In the early 80s, 3 such systems were developed: in Europe (E1, E2, etc.), North America (T1, T2, etc.) and Japan (DSn). Despite the same principles, the systems used different multiplexing factors at different levels of the hierarchy. The interfaces of these interfaces and multiplexing levels are described in Recommendation G.703.
